The manner in which SRH defeated PBKS by a dramatic two runs

At the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in IPL WIN, Chandigarh, the match between Punjab Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad was marked by a dramatic last over. With the 2016 champions prevailing by a narrow margin of 2 runs, SRH was tasked with defending 29 runs in the final over. In order to accomplish this, captain Pat Cummins selected left-arm pacer Jaydev Unadkat.

While Unadkat did allow 26 runs to be scored in the final over, the fielders’ three fumbled catches were responsible for the entire score. Ahutosh Sharma, a batsman for the PBKS, delivered the short delivery that Nitish Reddy was unable to catch at midwicket and instead palmed over the line for a six.

Similar to Dafabet, Abdul Samad committed the identical error on the third delivery, which was when Ashutosh lofted the ball above long-off. With 10 runs down from the final two deliveries, the Punjab Kings’ finisher sought another massive blow with the fifth delivery.

Another time dropped by Rahul Tripathi, he attempted to bowl it over the deep rummy star. He was only able to amass one, however. Punjab fell two runs shy of the target despite Shashank Singh’s maximum off the final delivery.

At their new home base, Punjab were defeated despite the valiant efforts of Shashank (46 not out off 25 balls) and Ashutosh (33 not out off 15 balls) in the top order.

Ashishk and Ashutosh contributed to the team’s demise, which skipper Shikhar Dhawan attributed to inadequate batting during the powerplay. “I feel that Shashank and Ashutosh played a great knock, we restricted them to a good total, but we couldn’t cash in on the first 6 overs, lost 3 wickets and that’s where we fell behind and it cost us in the end,” Dhawan stated to journalists.
